Biography
JO1 is a Japanese boy group formed through the first season of Produce 101 Japan, in which viewers voted a field of 101 trainees down to eleven.[1] They debuted on 4 March 2020 with the single "PROTOSTAR" under Lapone Entertainment, a joint venture between Yoshimoto Kogyo and CJ ENM.[1]
Unlike earlier Produce 101 groups, JO1 was not conceived with a fixed activity period.[1] The lineup has since changed, and the current roster lists nine members: Issei Mamehara, Ren Kawashiri, Takumi Kawanishi, Ruki Shiroiwa, Keigo Sato, Syoya Kimata, Junki Kono, Sukai Kinjo and Sho Yonashiro.[1]
In 2026 the group made its US debut with the all-English EP ANIMAL, produced by Dem Jointz, which gave them their first entry on the Billboard 200.[2][3]
