Biography
Kurt Vile (born January 3, 1980, in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania) is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He grew up near Philadelphia as one of ten children, and began writing and home recording after his father gave him a banjo at age 14.[1]
He co-founded The War on Drugs with Adam Granduciel in 2005 and left in 2008 to focus on his solo work. He signed with Matador Records in 2009, broke through with Smoke Ring for My Halo in 2011, and released b'lieve i'm goin down... in 2015. He is married to Suzanne Lang and has two daughters, and his backing band is called The Violators.[1]
