Biography
Niall James Horan was born on September 13, 1993, in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland. He rose to global fame at sixteen as a member of One Direction, the group assembled on the UK edition of The X Factor in 2010. Over the following six years, One Direction became one of the best-selling boy bands in history, releasing five studio albums and performing to sold-out arenas worldwide before going on indefinite hiatus in 2016.
Horan launched his solo career with the single "This Town" in 2016 and followed it with three studio albums: "Flicker" (2017), "Heartbreak Weather" (2020), and "The Show" (2023). Each record marked a step toward a more personal and confessional songwriting voice, moving away from the polished pop of his boy-band years toward a warmer, acoustic-influenced sound.[1]
A turning point in his personal life came in 2020, when he met Amelia Woolley at a dinner party. The couple went public in 2021, and Horan has spoken openly about the relationship's transformative effect on him. He told E! Online that since his early teens he had never had the chance to settle down, and that meeting Woolley was the first time he felt genuinely ready to put down roots. He credited the relationship with giving him a new sense of perspective and stability.[2]
His fourth studio album, also titled "Dinner Party," is set for release on June 5, 2026, via Capitol Records. Executive produced by Julian Bunetta and John Ryan, the 12-track record takes that pivotal 2020 evening as its conceptual starting point, expanding outward into themes of love, intimacy, loss, fear, and hope. Horan described it as "a thank you to the past and a hello to the present." The album is also reported to contain references to late One Direction bandmate Liam Payne.[3][4]
