Biography

Sibylle Baier (born 25 February 1946) is a German singer-songwriter and actress whose music found an audience only decades after she made it[1].

She played guitar and piano as a girl, and wrote her first song after a road trip with a friend across the Alps to Genoa[1]. She appeared in Wim Wenders' Alice in the Cities, but chose not to pursue acting or music professionally and later moved to the United States to raise her family[1].

Between 1970 and 1973 she recorded songs at home on a reel-to-reel machine, reportedly in her attic while the household slept[3]. Her son Robby shared the tapes with family and friends, a copy reached J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, and the Orange Twin label released them as Colour Green in 2006[2]. Her music has since appeared in Wenders' Palermo Shooting, for which she recorded a new song in 2008[1].
