Biography
Troye Sivan Mellet was born on 5 June 1995 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and moved to Perth, Western Australia, at the age of two. He was raised in an Orthodox Jewish family and attended a Modern Orthodox school[1].
He began posting music on YouTube in 2007 and started vlogging in 2012, then signed with EMI Australia in 2013. His 2015 debut album Blue Neighbourhood included "Youth," his first US Top 40 hit, followed by Bloom (2018) and Something to Give Each Other (2023), which topped the Australian albums chart[1]. His fourth album, She's the Best, was released on 9 October 2026[2].
He has also worked as an actor, appearing in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Boy Erased and the HBO series The Idol, and has collaborated with artists including Martin Garrix, Charli XCX, Lauv and Ariana Grande[1].
Around the release of She's the Best, Sivan said he was 31 and feeling the pressure of changing milestones as friends settled down, thrilled with his career but still searching for connection, with touring leaving him isolated in hotel rooms[4]. The album was recorded largely at home in Los Angeles with his brother Tyde Levi, plus sessions in New York with Jack Antonoff[3].
Sivan has described feeling like an outsider within pop, never fully one of the girls or one of the boys, and has credited women in his life with giving him safety and inspiration[5]. His 2024 Sweat Tour with Charli xcx shaped the club-minded sound of She's the Best, whose single "Party" samples Madonna's "Music"[5].
