Wuthering Heights
About this Album
Wuthering Heights is the official soundtrack album to Emerald Fennell's 2026 film adaptation of Emily Bronte's 1847 gothic novel, written and performed exclusively by Charli XCX. Released February 13, 2026 via Atlantic Records, the twelve-track album represents a radical departure from Charli's prior work, trading hyperpop excess for orchestral restraint and gothic atmosphere.
The project began when Fennell approached Charli in December 2024 to write a single song for the film. After reading the screenplay, Charli proposed a full companion album rooted in the film's world. The bulk of the material was written and recorded with producer Finn Keane during the Brat Tour (2024-2025), in rented studios across multiple cities. Charli described the desired sound as "elegant and brutal" and the world she wanted to evoke as "undeniably raw, wild, sexual, gothic, and British."
The album received widespread critical acclaim upon release, debuting at number one on the UK Albums Chart with 21,071 units in its first week -- Charli's third number-one album in the UK. Critics praised its formal ambition, orchestral arrangements by Gareth Murphy, and its success as an independent artistic statement beyond the film it accompanied. Featured collaborators include John Cale and Sky Ferreira.
